DARK SIDE OF THE BRIDGE
An exploration of how under utilized spaces can be used to connect two neighborhoods separated by thoughtless infrastructure. While a permanent structure under a functioning piece of infrastructure may be a virtually impossible solution, placing a movable structure to improve the environment in these spaces is more feasible. The use of shipping containers is a solution which deals with the mobility of spaces.
BLEND: A SCHOOL FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS
is a non-profit school focusing efforts on the preservation and progression of performing arts and culture within San Antonio through the development of youth within the community as an after school/summer program. The focus of the school is geared to getting kids off the streets and into productive environments, enhancing children's sense of worth and potential as adults.
Located at 504 Soledad the building contributes to, welcomes and engages the community on multiple levels. The spaces allow for performances throughout, on terraces and within a central plaza. In keeping with the inciting nature of the school and goals to inspire youth, spaces provide opportunities for observation.
